At R:KC we align with the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation (CCEF) model of care for individuals and marriage. We seek to understand the real-life, human struggles you experience and find hope and power to change through Jesus.
The counseling relationship is a means of God's grace and healing--a safe space to be known, heard, and understood by a counselor who has an equal need for God's grace and mercy.
God created us as 'embodied' souls. That is, physical problems such as chronic pain, sickness, or mental illness affect our emotions and thoughts, which then affect our relationship with God and others. Therefore, counseling wisely considers and attends to the body aspect of a person's struggles.
At R:KC we offer biblical counseling that helps you connect your unique struggles and pain to God’s bigger story of rescue and redemption. We believe that our biggest problem is that we don’t love and trust the God who made us. We call our lack of love and trust sin, and Jesus’ death and resurrection gives us hope for change and growth.
Our approach to counseling is grounded in Scripture, which guides our understanding of who we are and how God relates to us.
At Redemption Kansas City we utilize a variety of methods to address the specific problems, history, and personality of our clients. Our methods include (but are not limited to):
Personal story-work, expressive arts, journaling, breathing techniques, body calming activities, cognitive strategies to address negative thought patterns, visualization, Scripture passages and stories, conflict-resolution strategies, behavior plans and more.
The application of our methods seeks to establish client safety and then guide the client into gaining clarity regarding his/her story, understanding of his/her responses to suffering, and finding healing in Christ himself.

No. We do not bill insurance but seek to keep our rates below the market average to keep counseling affordable. If you need financial assistance, please check with your church to see if they can help offset the cost of counseling. Many churches will cover the cost of a certain number of sessions for their members.
You can call and leave a message at this number: 502-648-8676 or contact us via email through our contact page. A counselor will follow up with you regarding scheduling.
