Providing Hope and Help
Providing Hope and Help
Hello and welcome! My husband, Jon, and I have been married 18 years and have four kids, three boys and a girl. As a former English teacher in both private and public settings, a homeschool mama with her oldest now in public high school, and years of living and ministering in a low-income area, I bring a wide variety of life experiences into the counseling setting. As a counselor, I foster a safe place for teens and women to share their struggles and suffering and find hope and healing in Jesus. I have an MA in Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary, PA, and hold Levels I, II, and III counseling certificates from Christian Counseling Education Foundation.
As a husband and father of four children and years of working in the business world, I understand the pressures than many Christian men face in their lives as they try to balance work and family. As a counselor, I invite men to work through their struggles and difficulties in being the man God has designed them to be. I have an MDiv from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, KY, and counseling training through Christian Counseling Education Foundation
The counseling relationship is a means of God's grace and healing--a safe space to be known, heard, and understood. Therefore, the counselor comes alongside the counselee as one who has an equal need for God's grace and mercy in her life.
God created us as 'embodied' souls. That is, problems in our body such as chronic pain, sickness or mental illness affect our emotions and thoughts, which then affect our relationship with God and others. In the same way, suffering in our emotions and thoughts such as anxiety, depression or obsessive thinking, affects our bodies. Therefore, counseling addresses every aspect of the person.
At R:KC we offer biblical counseling that helps you connect your unique struggles and pain to God’s bigger story of rescue and redemption. We believe that our biggest problem resides inside—we don’t love and trust the God who made us. We call our lack of love and trust sin, and in order to rescue us from ourselves, God sent his son Jesus to earth to die for us that we might live. Jesus’ death and resurrection gives us Hope for change and growth.
